“Respect the elderly” – Ablekuma west delegates tell Roni

Ablekuma West Constituency delegates have once and more sent Roni Paa Kwesi Nicol a strong message, instructing him to carefully study the realm of political responsibilities, be prepared in his work and general demeanor, and possess the strategic ability to combat the elderly in political rivalries.

However, Roni should support the incumbent to gain more popularity and experience and wait for the right time to contest, as the delegates had previously stated. Roni’s time as a member of parliament for the constituency is not yet here.

Yet he chose to disregard all of the counsel from the delegates and local experts and made a second attempt to run in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary primaries. This time, he was met with humiliation and a loss to the top rank.

However, the delegates and party members said they strongly believed that Roni’s ability to overcome an accomplished and diligent member of parliament, like Hon. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, would result in defeat for their party in the upcoming elections.

With only 241 out of 1078 votes, Roni Nicol, who was very confident he would win before the primaries despite his repeated claims that he would run for Ablekuma West, came in last.

Also, there seemed to be reports that the primary was fierce, and when things were getting hard, Roni Nicol was heard and seen accusing Ursula Owusu-Ekuful of camped-out party delegates in the constituency, which was very bad.

Meanwhile, and as though the delegates lacked free will, Roni Kwesi Nicol claimed that the reason the majority of the delegates had not yet arrived was because they were being prodded into attending. In addition, he claimed that some of the delegates who were all present were not allowed entry because, in violation of the agreement, they lacked accreditations.

However, Daniel Nii Lai Parker, known internationally as the NPP’s Greater Accra Regional Secretary and the person in charge of the Ablekuma West primary, refuted and denounced this assertion.

Meanwhile, he has also claimed that Roni Nicol was merely making baseless accusations out of desperation and frustration.

In addition to the aforementioned, Mrs. Owusu-Ekuful disputed Roni’s assertions, voicing worries about his delegates’ lack of credentials and claiming that he hasn’t engaged in real campaigning in the area and, as a result, lacks the necessary experience in planning and winning elections.

With regards, She clarified, rejecting the accusations, saying, “They (delegates) were just given breakfast.” I don’t discriminate; everyone who wants to eat gets some; no one is kept under lock and key.

She quoted saying, “I’m not sure what they mean when they say “camping.” In actuality, camping is simply locking people up for the night and then transporting them in a bus to cast their ballots. However, this is a public area where anyone can enter and eat breakfast.

Meanwhile, Dr. Bawumia encouraged all those who could not ascertain any level of position or attain any kind of expected level to be asked to back up and keep the party moving to be united.

He assured winning in 2024 (December). Dr. Bawumia exclaimed to others who were present and to the entire party at large.
