Following a suspected terrorist strike at Nagudi in neighboring Togo Sunday night, more than 200 people of three border settlements escaped.

It is reported that the armed guys, who were on motorbikes and numbered around ten, attacked the Togolese settlement. Eight people are said to have died in the incident, according to unverified accounts.

After the attack, people in Tantara 2, Jangbande, and Tambeng left their villages and took refuge in Bunkpurugu, Wenchike, and Yunyoo, respectively.

The paramount chief, Naa Abubakari Awuffor, confirmed that over eighty persons had arrived in Wenchike and claimed that the Chereponi District Assembly officials had been notified of the issue.

Additionally, sources close to Joy News disclosed that border security has been bolstered.
