Renowned founder of major British talent agency, Jenne Casarotto, passes away at 77

Jenne Casarotto, the co-founder of the prominent British talent agency Casarotto Ramsay & Associates, passed away at the age of 77 after facing complications from a short illness. The agency confirmed her peaceful passing in a statement.

Described as a visionary leader and a giant in the global entertainment industry, Casarotto had a career that spanned over 50 years.

She was known for her impeccable taste in representing writers and directors, her dedication to her clients, and her calm and creative leadership.

In 1989, Casarotto established the London agency with her husband Giorgio and went on to represent some of the most renowned writers, directors, playwrights, and creatives in the industry.

Her client list included esteemed names such as J.G. Ballard, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Neil Gaiman, Terry Gilliam, and David Yates.

Throughout her illustrious career, Casarotto received numerous awards and honors, including recognition from The British Independent Film Awards and the Women in Film & Television Awards.

She was a member of prestigious organizations like the British Academy of Film and Television Arts and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Casarotto is survived by her husband, two sons, three grandchildren, and her brother. Colleagues and clients who worked with her paid tribute to her immense talent and leadership.

Jodi Shields, the Head of Film & Television at Casarotto Ramsay, praised her as a “giant among agents” and vowed to continue her extraordinary legacy.

Director Stephen Frears, who had been her client for 45 years, expressed his shock and sadness over her passing. Director Steve McQueen acknowledged her pivotal role in his career and confessed his love for her in their last conversation.

Director John Madden described her as a brilliant agent and an extraordinary human being, while Mel Kenyon, Head of the Casarotto theatre department, emphasized that her legacy will continue to live on within the DNA of the agency.

Casarotto’s impact on the entertainment industry and the lives of those she worked with will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her. Her legacy as a pioneering agent and a respected leader in the field will endure through the agency she helped build and nurture.
