Collins Adomako-Mensah, the deputy minister-designate for the Energy Ministry, has declared that the government is moving to address the recent power outages that have been occurring across the nation for the next two weeks.

In Parliament, former Power Minister Dr. Kwabena Donkor disputed President Akufo-Addo’s assertion that there has been a steady supply of electricity for the previous seven years, voicing concerns about Ghana’s ability to generate electricity.

The Public Utilities and Regulatory Commission (PURC) plans to work with the Independent Power Producers to find solutions after attributing the recent intermittent power outages to a lack of fuel.

In an interview with Citi News, Adomako-Mensah gave the public the assurance that the government is dedicated to solving the problem.

He noted that there have been power outages lately and stressed that work is being done to address the issue in the next two weeks.

“I acknowledge that there have been some power outages for the last two or three weeks, but it’s interesting that the Minority is holding a press conference as a result of the two-week power outages. Although I haven’t had much time to settle into the [Energy] Ministry, from what I’ve seen in my brief interactions with Ministry officers prior to my vetting, this should be resolved within the next two weeks.
