Dani Carvajal and Rodrygo won’t be available for Real Madrid’s 2022–23 La Liga opener against Almeria on Sunday night.
Both players took part in the UEFA Super Cup match on Wednesday night against Eintracht Frankfurt, with Carvajal starting at right-back and Rodrygo coming on in the 66th minute of the team’s 2-0 victory.
Carvajal, who suffered a minor injury in the match against the German powerhouses, will not play against Almeria, while Rodrygo, who missed training due to a muscular issue, will also not travel because of the same issue.
Despite rumors regarding his future, Alvaro Odriozola was selected for the team; nonetheless, Carvajal’s absence means that Lucas Vazquez will probably start at right-back.
The La Liga and European Champions have no other notable absences, and recent additions Antonio Rudiger and Aurelien Tchouameni are expected to make their La Liga debuts.
The trophy was won by Real Madrid at the end of April of the previous season, and they ultimately finished 13 points ahead of Barcelona in second place.
