Rafael Nadal is said to have battled through injury to defeat Taylor Fritz which catapulted him to the next phase of the competition.
The Spaniard won (3-6 7-5 3-6 7-5 7-6) despite a medical timeout at the end of the second set and struggles with his movement for long stretches (10-4).
It keeps Nadal on track for a calendar Grand Slam and sets up a semi-final against the Austrailian International, Nick Kyrgios. Their match begins at 12:30 p.m. on Friday (July 8) at the Centre Court, which is also when Djokovic and Cameron Norrie will play their semi-finals.
Nadal, who had strapping on his tummy in his previous match, appeared to be bothered by the same problem again.
The 22-time Grand Slam champion from Spain left the court for treatment at 3-4 in the second set, and while he returned to win that set, his movement remained hampered, and he struggled on his backhand side and with his serve, which gradually slowed.
