Quinn K. Redeker, whose credits include “Days of Our Lives,” “The Young and the Restless,” and “The Deer Hunter,” for which he was nominated for an Academy Award for best original screenplay, died last month, according to his representative Christopher Hartman.
Hartman told CNN in an email that the artist died of natural causes on December 20. He was 86. Arianne Raser, Redeker’s daughter, verified the news late Monday, according to Hartman.
From 1979 through 1987, Redeker participated in nearly 850 episodes of the hit daytime serial series “Days of Our Lives” as the nefarious Alex Marshall.

He also starred in nearly 200 episodes of the CBS soap opera “The Young and the Restless,” primarily as Rex Sterling, from 1979 to 2004. He also portrayed the role of Nick Reed.
His other film credits include “Bonanza,” “Kojak,” “The Six Million Dollar Man,” “The Rockford Files,” and “The Electric Horseman” (1979).
Redeker also worked as a writer, including for the Oscar-winning 1978 film “The Deer Hunter,” starring Robert De Niro, Christopher Walken, and Meryl Streep.
