In the second round at Roland Garros, the 19-year-old defeated Simona Halep, the victor of the 2018 French Open.
After losing to Alize Cornet in the third round due to a thigh injury, Zheng will play Iga Swiatek, the world’s number one, on Monday for a spot in the quarterfinals.
Zheng has won 60 of her last 79 matches overall, and she has been climbing the WTA rankings quickly since the year 2021 began.
In that time, she has reached five ITF second-tier finals and won each one without dropping a set.
Zheng entered the top 100 in February and is anticipated to break into the top 70 following the French Open.
