The National Sports Authority’s (NSA) Northern Regional Director is to be arrested by Parliament for failing to deposit more than GH¢160,000 in funds that were generated internally.
He neglected to deposit the money into the authority’s designated Consolidated Fund Transit account. The Northern Regional Management of the Sports Authority is cited in the 2022 Auditor General’s report for using funds in a way that is against the Public Financial Management Regulations, 2019.
The Regional Director was summoned, but he did not show up before the Public Accounts Committee to defend the actions mentioned in the report.
As a result, the regional director and accountant have both been ordered to be arrested immediately by the committee chairman.
“The regional director and accountant of the region should be picked up by the police as soon as possible. Even though you knew you had misappropriated more than GH¢160,000, you turned down the invitation to testify before Parliament because you thought you would get away with it.”
