“Provide social amenities for Abaase” – Assembly Member appeals to govt, NGOs

Jones Akuffo, the Assembly Member for the Abaase Electoral region in Akyem Takyiman, Kwaebibrem District, Eastern Region, has made a request to the relevant authorities and parties to assist in the provision of social amenities in his electoral region.

He explained that this was due to the lack of contemporary classroom buildings and other social amenities like connection roads in nearby settlements like Mpeasem.

The assembly member went on to say that Mpeasem L/A Basic School, the sole school in the area, was in poor shape.

Mr. Akuffo continued, saying that instructors and students met at a church building because the junior high school in the town did not have a classroom block.

As a result, he urged the government to set aside money for the building of school buildings for students in Mpeasem and the other settlements.

Mr. Akuffo added that there were not enough teacher bungalows or student desks in areas like Dokyi and Dompem.

He pointed out that people and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) needed to assist in providing the facilities because the government could not do it alone.

The lack of adequate infrastructure, according to Nana Kwesi Yirenkyi II, the Mankrado of Mpeasem, frustrates both teachers and students.

He added that the community had already raised money to build a kindergarten block to serve preschool-aged children, but they still required government assistance because they couldn’t accomplish it on their own.
