Lance Corporal Paul Badu, a 40-year-old prison guard, is said to have passed away after becoming ill during the 6th March practice march in Koforidua.
On Thursday, February 8, 2024, the deceased requested authorization to visit the Prison Clinic for medical care.
Sadly, on Saturday, February 10, Lance Corporal Badu passed away. He was sent to the Koforidua Central Hospital for emergency treatment.
DSP Ezekiel Korletey, the Koforidua Prisons’ Public Relations Officer (PRO), verified the tragic demise.
“He left the line on Thursday during the rehearsals. He was examined at the prison clinic, and they quickly rushed him to the Koforidua Central Hospital when they realised his situation wasn’t stable,” the PRO narrated according to report by Accra-based TV3.
According to DSP Korletey, they have not yet received the autopsy results. He did, however, add that they believe his high blood pressure caused his death. A wife and two children were left behind by the deceased.
