On Wednesday, February 14, 2024, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo departed Ghana to head the country’s delegation to the Munich Security Conference in Germany.
The Munich Security Conference (MSC) is a well-known forum for international talks about security strategy.
MSC 2024 seeks to combat revisionist tendencies and uphold the international order based on rules. The celebration will honor the conference’s 60th anniversary and feature debates and side events.
President Akufo-Addo will go to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, for the 37th African Union Summit from Munich.
The topic of the Heads of State summit, “Educate an African fit for the 21st Century: Building resilient education systems for increased access to inclusive, lifelong, quality, and relevant learning in Africa,” is set for February 17–18, 2024.
President Akufo-Addo will give an update on Ghana’s hosting of the Secretariat of the African Continental Free Trade Area and invite Commission Member States to a breakfast meeting on education and Au financial institutions.
Along with him were representatives from the Foreign Ministry and the Presidency, as well as First Lady Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, MP.
On Sunday, February 18, 2024, the President will return to Ghana. In his absence, the Vice President, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, would assume the role of President in accordance with Article 60(8) of the Constitution.
