Apostle Eric Nyamekye, the Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, has urged political players to assume leadership positions in the upcoming general elections to ensure the nation’s peace and unity.
He claimed that to guarantee a progressive and developed nation, political figures with significant followings had a duty to encourage peaceful elections through their “words and deeds.”
At the opening of the 2024 Global Ministers and Wives Conference in Accra on Tuesday, Apostle Nyamekye made the call to begin the second phase of a ministerial agenda titled “Vision 2028, Possessing the Nations,” which aims to equip churchgoers to win souls for Christ.
More than 5,000 local ministers and their spouses, as well as virtual attendees from 150 countries, attended the five-day conference, which had the theme “A People of God Unleashed to Transform Their World.”
According to Apostle Nyamekye, the agenda, which would run from 2023 to 2028, would be centered on sending the members who have been equipped out into the world as change agents.
“The ultimate objective is to fulfill the Great Commission by reaching people from all backgrounds and advancing the ideals and values of God’s Kingdom in all areas of society,” he declared.
He stated that 16 strategic objectives would direct the agenda, which would include educating members about the church’s corporate mission to change society, providing opportunities for church members at all levels to participate in ministry outside of the church, and keeping the message alive that members are the physical embodiment of Christ.
He added that the agenda aimed to launch a national moral vision agenda that would force institutions to work toward transforming society and national development, maximize influence in cities and urban centers, create avenues for effective discipleship and mentorship in the local church, and make the necessary adjustments to free the church system from overburdened programs so that members could serve outside the church.
Apostle Nyamekye stated that the church would implement four main techniques to accomplish these goals. These strategies include leveraging the church’s immense ability to transform society and empowering local churches as centers of discipleship.
He added that other tactics included leveraging the church’s social ministry to transform society and fortifying and realigning its institutions, structures, and processes to support the Vision 2028 agenda.
“In the upcoming years, the Church of Pentecost will endeavor to become a Church whose members go to possess or take their nations by instilling Kingdom principles, values, and lifestyle into every thought, worldview, and behavior, ultimately leading many people to Christ,” the speaker declared.
