Pop Up Film Residency Announces Participants for Summer 2022

The mentorship program Pop Up Film Residency, which is located in Europe, has announced the mentors and filmmakers who will take part in its summer 2022 edition.

The program, one of several feature-development initiatives led by former TorinoFilmLab artistic director Matthieu Darras, comprises of three-week residencies in various locations across Europe that are solely dedicated to one film.

The mentors for the upcoming edition are Paraguayan filmmaker Marcelo Martinessi, whose debut film The Heiresses gained international attention with a Berlinale Silver Bear victory in 2018, French director Lucile Hadihalilovi, who won San Sebastian’s Special Jury Prize last year for gothic psychological horror Earwig, and Marie Amachoukeli, a Caméra d’Or winner in 2014 for her debut film Party Girl, who is currently finishing her first solo feature. e. Brazilian Caru Alves de Souza, whose collaboration with Raffaella Costa’s My Name Is Baghdad won best film at the Berlinale’s Generation 14+ section in 202, is among the confirmed feature directors joining the program. 0.

The majority of the movies are debut features.

These include The Mermaid Of Monterey, a film by Argentine director Marlene Grinberg about a dancer and sex worker in a small hamlet in Southern Patagonia.

Grinberg will stay with Hadihalilovi in Bratislav, the capital of Slovakia. a.
