Regarding election security, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Gabriel Prince Waabu made remarks that the Ghana Police Service has since refuted.

DCOP Waabu stated on Joy News that the program views each constituency as a hotspot.

DCOP Waabu also emphasized that in order to ensure the safety and security of voters throughout the election process, the police have put in place a number of systems and tactics.

Additionally, he conveyed his confidence that this year’s poll would uphold the professionalism standards seen in internal party elections.

The service, however, stated in a statement that it does not agree with the claim and finds it to be false.

According to the statement, it works with all other security agencies, including the Ghanaian Armed Forces, to maintain peace, security, and law and order prior to, during, and following elections as part of the National Elections Security Taskforce Architecture.

The statement also stated that internal disciplinary procedures are being applied to the officer’s behavior.
