In relation to the attacks on the Bepong Chiefs Palace and a few police officers at Kwahu Bepong in the Eastern Region, the Ghana Police Service (GPS) has detained 46 more people.
Prior to this, the police service had detained 25 people in relation to the assault. With these arrests, there are now seventy-one (71) suspects in total who have been arrested.
On February 4, 2024, the suspects and a few others who are still at large attacked the Bepong Chiefs Palace, injuring seven people—five of them police officers.
In a statement, the police claimed that the Bepong township’s security, law, and order had now been restored and that all of the suspects would be brought before the courts to face justice.
According to the police, forty of the suspects who have so far been identified as having taken part in the attacks in various ways and who have been linked to the proof that is currently available have been placed under detention to aid in the investigation.
