
Three individuals are in the custody of the Takoradi Divisional Police Command for allegedly faking a kidnapping, and demanding a ransom of five thousand Ghana Cedis (Ghc 5,000.00).
The three suspects are Joana Krah, aged 29; Susana Awortwe, aged 27 and Francis Eshun, aged 27.
According to a statement from the police, suspect Joana conspired with the two other suspects mentioned above to feign her kidnapping on Friday, October 22, 2021.
After the plot, they then placed a call to the adopted father of Joana to demand a ransom.
Joana’s adopted father reported the incident to police, and a thorough search was conducted to find her.
Joana later reported herself to the Takoradi Central Police Station on Saturday, October 23, to confess.

She told the police she was only joking with her adopted father that she was kidnapped.
The other suspects were all rounded up after further police investigations.
All three suspects will be arraigned before the court later today, October 25, 2021.
The command sent a word of caution to the general public to desist from faking kidnapping for monetary gains. It is a criminal act.
Takoradi is gradually becoming a town noted for faking kidnappings.
A lady, Josephine Payin Mensah is currently standing trial for also faking her pregnancy and kidnapping.
It later turned out that the pregnancy and the kidnapping were all fake and staged.
