Police arrest 25 persons for attacking officers at Kwahu

In relation to an attack on its officers and the destruction of certain properties in Kwahu Bepong, Eastern Region, the Ghana Police Service has detained twenty-five people.

According to reports, the people damaged local property and attacked police officers.

After some residents decided to take matters into their own hands in order to deal with an alleged murder suspect, the police were called in to help restore order. The residents threw stones at the police because they were upset about their intervention, damaging their motorcycles in the process.

In a statement, the police said that “things have been normalized while efforts are ongoing to get the other suspects arrested to face justice” and that “a reinforcement team working with the local Police has restored calm.”

When information about the incident became available, the police pledged to share it all.

At Kwahu Bepong, twenty-five people were arrested for attacking police.
