In an exclusive interview with the press at the Nominee announcement party for the 27th annual Ghana Music Awards, gospel musician Piesie Esther exuded confidence in her chances of winning the coveted Artiste of the Year award.
In the brief session the 46-year-old musician expressed that her hard work and dedication in the year under review set her apart from her competitors, and her recent successful shows in Accra and Kumasi, along with the popularity of her hit song “W’aye Me Yie,” are a testament to her deserving the title.
Piesie Esther is up against some formidable competition, including Sarkodie, Black Sherif, Camidoh, Stonebwoy, King Promise, Joe Mettle, and reigning Artiste of the Year KiDi.
The awards ceremony, set to take place on May 13th at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC), will present a total of 27 awards in various categories, including Most Popular Song of the Year, Gospel Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Afrobeats Song of the Year, Highlife Song of the Year, Hiplife Song of the Year, Rapper of the Year, and Songwriter of the Year.
With such high stakes and fierce competition, it remains to be seen who will emerge victorious in the various categories at this year’s VGMA24.
