Petro Oleksiyovych Poroshenko is a Ukrainian businessman and politician. He served as the fifth president of Ukraine between 2014 to 2019.
Before being elected president of Ukraine, Poroshenko served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2009 to 2010. He later served as the Minister of Trade and Economic Development in 2012.
Petro Poroshenko was born on September 26, 1965 (age 56 years), Bolhrad, Ukraine. He is married to Maryna Poroshenko since 1984 and together they have four (4) children. He was the second-born son of Eugenia S. Poroshenko and Oleksiy Poroshenko and the younger brother to Mykhailo Poroshenko who died in 1997.
On 25 May 2014, Petro was elected president of Ukraine. He stayed in office as president from 7 June 2014 to 20 May 2019. He was succeeded by Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
