Peter Fischer, author of several acclaimed mystery series and co-creator of “Murder, She Wrote,” died at the age of 88. In this article let’s discuss his death and funeral.

Fischer, who was born in 1935, began writing television scripts in 1971. He began with the TV film “The Last Child” and went on to write for popular shows such as “Marcus Welby, M.D.,” “Kojak,” “Baretta,” and “McMillan & Wife,” among others.

Following his work on “Ellery Queen,” he collaborated with William Link again on “Columbo” from 1974 to 1976. In addition, Fischer and Link were responsible for the Angela Lansbury film “Murder, She Wrote.” During the show’s 12-year run, he contributed to more than 40 episodes in the first seven years of his position.

In addition, the prolific Fischer wrote a full season of “Ellery Queen” and 12 episodes of “Columbo.” In 1985, the Mystery Writers of America presented him with an Edgar Allen Poe award for an episode of “Murder, She Wrote”. Fischer also got three Emmy nominations and two Golden Globes.

Fischer relocated to Pacific Grove four years after he left Hollywood in 2002, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He penned more than 20 crime novels for the “Hollywood Murder Mysteries” series after giving up on television.

Variety reports that Fischer leaves behind two children and six grandchildren. Before Lucille died in May 2017, he was married to her for nearly 60 years, according to the article.
