A policy think tank, IMANI Africa, has called on the government to improve the information and data provided in the recently launched Performance Tracker. The think tank emphasized the need for more detailed and accurate data to maximize the effectiveness of the tracker.
The Performance Tracker was introduced by the Minister of Works and Housing, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. During the launch, Oppong Nkrumah disclosed that the tracker currently includes information on over 13,000 projects nationwide.
However, Amprofi Agyemang, a senior research associate at IMANI Africa, expressed concerns about the vagueness of the tracker. He stressed the importance of providing Ghanaians with value for their money and urged for enhancements to ensure tangible results.
Agyemang suggested the inclusion of more detailed information and real data in the tracker. He also recommended that the data be made available to independent bodies for validation. He emphasized the need for transparency and accountability in the tracking of projects to prevent any flaws or discrepancies.
In a statement on Citi TV, Agyemang highlighted the importance of continuous improvement and the provision of comprehensive information to make the Performance Tracker more holistic and effective.
