Popular Ghanaian footballer and Black Stars captain Asamoah ‘Baby Jet’ Gyan has hit out at what he claims has been unfair treatment and lack of recognition for his prowess in the FIFA World Cup competition.
The player was left feeling aggrieved after news circulated that Portugal international Cristiano Ronaldo was the first player ever to score in nine (9) consecutive tournaments after he scored a hat-trick against Spain on June 15 at the FIFA World Cup in Russia, when he Asamoah Gyan was the holder of that record. Meaning Ronaldo had only equaled it.
Asamoah Gyan, who scored in the 2006 World Cup, 2008 AFCON, 2010 AFCON, 2010 WC, 2012 AFCON, 2013 AFCON, 2014 WC, 2013 AFCON AND 2017 AFCON competions tweeted “People disregard my achievements in the World Cup history but I want the whole world to know that I have not been given the fair shake but records will remain forever…”
Ever since the Black Stars of Ghana failed to qualify for the football showpiece event in Russia and the turmoil that recently hit Ghana football after the Anas corruption video, Ghanaians have been quick to show disinterest in any talk of football pertaining the Black Stars & Ghana football in general and what record anyone may have held.
But Asamoah Gyan is not ready to let anyone forget about him yet.
He posted the tweet below to express his frustration;
People disregard my achievements in the World Cup history but I want the whole world to know that I have not been given the fair shake but records will remain forever 🙏🙏
