Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, formerly Peace Anyiam-Fiberesima MFR, was a Nigerian filmmaker and entertainment executive known as “the queen of Nollywood films.” She was born on 30 March.

She is the creator of the widely recognized Africa Movie Academy Awards. According to The Guardian, she pioneered the screening of Nollywood films at foreign film festivals.

Anyiam-Osigwe is regarded as a pillar of Nollywood. In 2005, she formed the Africa Film Academy, which organizes the AMAA. During a press conference last year to announce plans for the 2023 edition of the awards, Anyiam-Osigwe hinted at her intention to focus more on teaching budding filmmakers.

She is the only female in a family of eight children from the illustrious Anyiam-Osigwe family of Nkwerre, Imo State. She holds a law and political science degree from Oxford Brookes University.

After falling into a coma on January 7, 2023, Anyiam-Osigwe died on January 9, 2023, at St. Nicholas Hospital in Lagos.
