A protest outside the Ministry of Education is scheduled for March 4, 2024, according to the National Association of Institutional Suppliers.
Their decision stems from what they perceive to be ongoing disregard on the part of the ministry, especially when it comes to contract awards and the settlement of delinquent accounts totaling more than GH¢100 million.
The Association is angry that over the last two academic years, the government has not paid for the uniforms, house dresses, and other necessities that it has provided to many senior high schools.
Spokesman Emmanuel Ayibor reaffirmed the group’s intention to use every resource until their concerns are resolved during a press briefing.
As a group, we have discussed these concerns in depth and have even enumerated the difficulties with the government. Regretfully, as of right now, we have not received a response from the government, and we are unsure of when we will be compensated.”
“As we stated in our press conference, we have a low price quota. Additionally, we are requesting that the government reevaluate returning the supply of PE kits, uniforms, and stationery to the schools. Thus, we are threatening to picket the Ministry of Education on March 4 if the government does not listen to us, and we have already alerted the police.”
