Paulini Curuenavuli is an Australian singer who rose to notoriety after appearing on the reality show Australian Idol. On October 15, 1982, she was born in Fiji.
When she was four years old, her family moved to Australia. Seieima and Litia Curuenavuli are her siblings. Her older brother was killed in a robbery when she was a child.
She attended Bankstown Girls High School. Her skill prompted her to enter in the school’s talent contest, ‘Starstruck,’ which she eventually won. Paulini recorded “When You Believe” for the program’s CD after the show.
She gained to prominence on the first season of Australian Idol in 2003, finishing fourth. The next year, Paulini signed with Sony BMG Australia and released her debut studio album, One Determined Heart (2004), which debuted at number one on the ARIA Albums Chart and was certified platinum.
The platinum single ‘Angel Eyes’ from the album spent three weeks at the top of the ARIA Singles Chart. Paulini received two ARIA No. 1 Chart Awards, one for the album and the other for the single.
Paulini had commercial success later in her career as a member of the Australian girl group Young Divas. Both Young Divas (2006) and New Attitude (2007) were top-ten albums for the trio, as were three top-fifteen singles, including the enormously successful ‘This Time I Know It’s for Real’.
