The renowned golfer’s caddie was Chris Roth.

Chris Roth died early on February 13, 2016, after being hit by a car in a tragic hit-and-run. Roth was only 24 years old at the time of the tragedy. Roth was caddying for PGA golfer Patrick Cantlay on a night out in Newport Beach, California, with the two friends.

Roth was hit while crossing the street, and the driver fled. Cantlay dialled 911, and Roth was later pronounced dead at a hospital. The driver was apprehended a few hours after fleeing the scene, according to The New York Times, and was later sentenced to two years in prison. The Golf Channel recounted the fateful night.
