A 13-year-old boy in Kpalugu, located in the Zawse Electoral area of the Upper East Region, has reportedly suffered physical abuse at the hands of his uncle. The incident occurred on a Sunday when the uncle accused the boy of stealing money belonging to his wife.
According to the assemblyman for the area, Azambarima Solomon, also known as Paa Solo, the uncle, who is believed to be a pastor, beat the nephew and then left him to go to church. A concerned resident later intervened and reported the incident to the local chief.
Surprisingly, the uncle’s daughter later found the missing money in a wardrobe, contradicting her father’s claims that the boy had taken it. The uncle had initially accused the boy of stealing the money, justifying his abusive actions.
The assemblyman confirmed that the boy was taken to the hospital, although there seems to be uncertainty about the specific medical care he received. This disturbing case highlights the importance of addressing issues of abuse and protecting vulnerable individuals in our communities.
