The Parliamentary Committee on Mines and Energy visited Strategic Mobilizations Limited (SML) on an industrial tour to learn more about the company and to get a sense of the kind of work it conducts.
The Committee had a tour of the Tema operation and data center, which houses the company’s meter reading center and network of fuel depots.
Samuel Atta Akyea, the chairman of the Mines and Energy Committee, gave a statement to the media following the meeting and tour, expressing the committee’s appreciation for the job done by SML, a top-notch audit firm.
According to him, some people have unfairly maligned a Ghanaian-owned business that was generating revenue without fully comprehending the contributions and business operations of the organization.
The House will invite the corporation to Parliament for a briefing, although the chairman praised the effort very highly.
The Committee had come to view the world-class installation firsthand, and he was in awe.
The President is currently awaiting the KPMG investigative audit, which includes a four-point evaluation regarding compliance, contract necessity, performance, and the procurement procedure for selecting SML for the work that they are performing.
The company has performed incredibly well in the petroleum downstream, according to Dr. Yaa Serwa Sarpong, Director of Support Services at SML, who emphasized how much all industry stakeholders value its work.
She continued by saying that there has been a double increase in revenue assurance and the taxes petroleum audit.
“Before SML records show that government revenue assurance with taxable Petroleum products was around 250 million liters which is now an average of 45-48 million liters and that translates into over GHS12 billion” she noted.
