The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Alban Bagbin, has said that a powerful committee will be formed to look into the problem of unpaid bills to cacao road contractors.
According to Mr. Bagbin, he has been contacted on multiple occasions by contractors connected to the Roads and Highways Ministry as well as cacao road contractors, complaining about the government’s inability to pay them on time.
The delayed payment of payments owing to the Concerned Cocoa Road Contractors Association of Ghana, which represents contractors working on various road projects throughout the country, has angered the group.
Mr. Bagbin suggested the creation of a committee to look into the situation in-depth in response to these worries.
“I have received numerous petitions from contractors alleging that they are not being paid for their labor, as well as numerous arrears from Roads and Highways and COCOBOD. It is so vital that I suggest forming a powerful committee to look into the issue.
To successfully handle this issue, the former MP for Nadowli/Kaleo emphasized the significance of cooperation between the two parliamentary caucuses.
