Padraig grew up in Rathfarnham, Harrington’s Parents are Paddy Harrington and Breda Harrington. His father, a Garda who played Gaelic football for Cork in the 1950s, was also a boxer and hurler and played to a five handicap in golf.
Harrington’s eldest brother, Tadhg, is a professional golf coach who owns and teaches at the Harrington Golf Academy in Dublin, Ireland. Harrington is a distant cousin of former NFL quarterback Joey Harrington and 1995 World Series of Poker champion and author Dan Harrington.
Harrington became a Global Ambassador for Special Olympics, the world’s largest sports organization for people with intellectual disabilities, in May 2010. He has conducted several golf clinics for Special Olympics athletes and coaches.
