James Klutse Avedzi, the head of Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC), has requested that the Auditor General conduct a special audit of the National Sports Authority (NSA).
The proposal for the audit comes after information from the Sports Ministry and the NSA was revealed during the Committee meeting on Monday, February 5.
“We’ll make a recommendation in our report, but I believe you should bring this up with the Auditor General right away. A special audit of the National Sports Authority is required.
I would like to offer a suggestion that will be included in the report. “After hearing what’s going on here, I believe this place is in disarray,” Dr. Avedzi remarked.
In addition, Public Accounts Committee member Sam George told JoyNews that the chairman’s claim that there was a lot of “looting” in the NSA was a positive move.
Sam George said that money that the NSA made from renting out the space for an event was not transferred into the agency’s regular account.
He said that this is on top of a long list of issues that include financial mismanagement, a lack of transparency, and dubious accounting procedures.
Sam George claims that following the complaint of the heist, the hotel where the pickup was parked shut off its CCTV cameras on the day of the crime, making it challenging to track down the vehicle or the perpetrators.
He claimed that even if the Director-General was paid to insure the car, he could not show that the funds were used for this reason.
