Ghanaian actress Lydia Forson has spoken out about the lack of accountability in Ghanaian politics and the role citizens play in contributing to the problem. In an interview with Berla Mundi on The Day Show, Forson expressed her frustration with the current state of leadership in the country, noting that both politicians and citizens have fallen short of their responsibilities.
According to Forson, the failure of leaders to deliver on their promises is compounded by the lack of accountability from the populace. She emphasized that if Ghanaians held their leaders accountable and practiced what they preached, the country would be free from corruption, economic hardships, and other pressing issues.
Forson also commended the efforts of young people in demanding accountability from leaders but stressed that more needs to be done. She acknowledged the challenges faced by those who speak out against the status quo but encouraged young people to continue pushing for change.
“We have a lot more to do. I am amazed at the young people in this country are just fantastic because they are trying,” Forson said.
Despite the obstacles, Forson remains hopeful that positive change is possible if both politicians and citizens commit to upholding their responsibilities. As the conversation around accountability continues to gain momentum, it is clear that there is still much work to be done to create a more transparent and accountable political system in Ghana.
