Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, has called on the Akufo-Addo government to make strategic decisions to boost the economy and create more job opportunities.

Speaking at the commissioning of a 430-kilometre natural gas pipeline by Genser Energy, he emphasized the importance of prioritizing policies that support the growth of industries.

The Asantehene suggested that the government should involve the private sector in the management of public enterprises like the Volta River Authority (VRA) and the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) to attract essential financial investments. He highlighted the need to diversify these government establishments and bring in qualified individuals to oversee their operations.

According to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, it is crucial for the government to acknowledge its limitations and collaborate with the private sector to attract more investors into the country. By diversifying and involving the private sector in key industries such as electricity production, the government can create a conducive environment for growth and development.

He urged the government to let go of industries that it cannot sustain and focus on creating policies that encourage private sector participation.

Emphasizing the importance of facing reality, he noted that attracting investors and ensuring sustainable growth requires a partnership between the government and the private sector.
