Ottar Brox died on February 16, 2024. Ottar Brox was a politician for the Socialist Left Party and a renowned social scientist in Norway who lived from August 30, 1932, to February 16, 2024.
From 1972 to 1984, he taught sociology at the University of Tromsø. Later, he served as the head of research at the Norwegian Institute for Urban and Regional Research, where he was appointed associate professor.
After completing his studies in sociology and history at the University of Oslo in 1959 and 1960, Brox earned his doctorate in science from the Norwegian College of Agriculture (NLH) in 1970. He also graduated as an agronomist from NLH in 1957.
From 1973 until 1977, Brox served as a member of parliament for Troms. In 1977, he did not win reelection.
