The Deputy Works and Housing Minister, Dr Prince Hamid Armah, has made accusations against the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for trying to smear the reputation of Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, who was recently revealed as the running mate of the NPP flagbearer.
According to Dr. Armah, the NDC is threatened by Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s extensive experience and proven competence, which is why they are attempting to undermine him. He believes that the NDC is intimidated by the idea of Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh partnering with Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on the NPP ticket.
Dr. Armah, who is also the Kwesimintsim MP, shared his personal experience of working under Dr. Opoku Prempeh at the Ministry of Education, highlighting his results-oriented approach and ability to deliver. He emphasized that Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s strong character and in-depth understanding of the political landscape make him a valuable asset to the NPP.
Addressing the criticisms from the NDC, Dr Armah dismissed the accusations of arrogance, stating that confidence should not be mistaken for arrogance in their cultural context. He assured that the NDC’s attempts to label Dr. Opoku Prempeh as arrogant will not succeed.
Overall, Dr. Armah defended Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s track record in public service and declared him as a capable leader who brings valuable skills and experience to the NPP ticket. The Deputy Minister’s comments shed light on the political dynamics surrounding the unveiling of Dr. Opoku Prempeh as the running mate and the ensuing reactions from the NDC.
