One of the actresses who had the good fortune to be born into a family of renowned filmmakers was Oona Chaplin.

The actress had a distinguished career that was mostly focused on the big screen. With a stint on “Sherlock,” Chaplin started her acting career in television.

She is a Chaplin relative, the daughter of the actress Geraldine Chaplin, the granddaughter of the English actor and filmmaker Charlie Chaplin, and the great-granddaughter of the Irish-American poet Eugene O’Neill. She was given the name Oona O’Neill in honor of her maternal grandmother, Charlie Chaplin’s fourth and last wife.

For “Game of Thrones,” she received a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination in 2014. She appeared in “The Hour” (2010–2013), “Black Mirror” (Channel 4, 2011–2015), and “Inside No. 9” in the 2010s (BBC 2, 2013-). During these years, she also appeared in films, including “The Devil’s Double” (2011), an action movie starring Dominic Cooper, and “Para Qué Sirve un Oso?” (2011), a foreign film starring Emma Suarez.

Chaplin began acting in movies more recently, making appearances in “What If” (2014), a comedy starring Daniel Radcliffe, “Powder Room” (2013), and the drama “Aloft” (2015) with Jennifer Connelly.

During these years, she also worked in television, playing parts in “Dates” (CW, 2014–15) and “The Crimson Field” (PBS, 2014-15). Chaplin appeared most recently in “The Longest Ride” (2015).
