‘One Student, One Laptop’ for Senior High Schools to launch in March by President

On Monday, March 25, 2024, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will officially introduce the much anticipated One Student, One Laptop program for Senior High School pupils.

As part of the plan, which aims to improve young Ghanaian students’ technical literacy, the government will give pre-programmed computers to every SHS student in the county.

The effort “aligns with government’s efforts to enhance e-learning and digitalization,” according to a statement from the Ministry of Education. It also “supports government’s goal of leveraging technological advancements to prepare Ghanaian students for the Fourth Industrial Revolution,” also known as the digital age.

“The initiative aims to support Senior High School Education by giving all Senior High and TVET Schools access to digital learning content, instructional devices, and teaching and learning management systems.”

Since secondary education has been free since 2017, the government’s dedication to secondary education is further demonstrated by the realization of Vice President Dr. Mahanudu Bawumia’s announcement last year that all SHS students will get computers.

The computers may be accessed offline (offline) anywhere in the nation and come packed with programs, including textbooks.

With computers, students may abandon the long-standing habit of lugging around textbooks.

Following the President’s launch on Monday, March 25, the computers will be distributed to SHS students.
