One person has died in the Ita-Ogbolu community in the Akure North local government area following a strong downpour, which will come across as a really tragic development.
The community saw rain fall for the second time this year during the rainstorm. In the interim, it was reported that the storm appeared to have destroyed over 200 homes and other properties owned by families and other individuals.
As a result, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the governor, visited the indemnities on Saturday and assured the community that help would be provided by the government. Also, he assured the entire community to stay calm as they work towards the damages.
Nonetheless, Aiyedatiwa expressed his sadness over the fatalities and the vast amount of damaged property. He also happened to visit the home of the woman who was killed in the storm.
The State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) was on the scene to make sure the victims received assistance, he continued. He notably also assured the affected personalities.
“I want to express my sympathies with Kabiyesi and the people of Ita-Ogbolu on this unfortunate disaster,” he said, quoting. We thank God that it was not more than that. May God grant the family the strength to cope with their loved one’s passing.
The governor declared, “I can assure you that we will take the necessary action once we see the detailed reports. The government has made arrangements for such a disaster.”
Oba Idowu Faborode, the community’s traditional ruler and Ogbolu of Ita-Ogbolu, expressed gratitude to the governor for his kindness and concern.
