Following a robbery attack last night in Walewale, in the North East Region, eight people, including a five-year-old, are fighting for their lives at the Tamale Teaching Hospital. One person has already passed away.

Three armed individuals are believed to have carried out the attack. They allegedly arrived on motorbikes, opened fire at a crowded bus station close to the Nalerigu intersection, and then targeted a mobile money vendor.

Eight other people were injured by stray gunfire at the bus terminal, and the vendor was shot as he tried to escape.

Although they were all taken to the Tamale Teaching Hospital, the victims were first taken to the Walewale Government Hospital.

That being said, the Tamale Teaching Hospital has declared Rabiu, the mobile money operator, dead.

Following a surge in robbery reports throughout the town, the incident occurred. The municipality has had around thirty robbery assaults since 2021, according to police sources.
