On September 30, 1986, Olivier Jonathan Giroud, a striker for Serie A team AC Milan and the France national team, was born in France. Olivier Giroud was raised in the surrounding village of Froges, close to Grenoble, and was born in Chambéry, France, in the Rhône-Alpes area. Through both of his grandparents, Giroud is of Italian ancestry.

He is regarded as one of the most underestimated attackers in the world due to his commitment, strength, shooting power, and the tendency for scoring goals. Giroud played for his hometown team Grenoble for one season of professional club football prior to joining Tours in 2008.
