Okyeame Kwame dragged on Twitter after KSTS students threaten demo

Ghanaian award-winning musician Okyeame Kwame is being hauled on Twitter (now X app) after reports emerged that Kumasi Senior High Technical School (KSTS) students are planning a protest over lack of furniture and whiteboard.

Students of KSTS at Patase in the Ashanti region have given the Ministry of Education a two-week ultimatum to address the lack of furniture and whiteboard in the facility, or else picketing will be their retaliation.

The notice follows the regional education directorate’s intervention on 4th October 2023 leading to the suspension of the plan on 5th October 2023 by the over 4000 students, Starrfm reports.

After the news hit Twitter, scores of Ghanaians on the app referenced Okyeame Kwame’s controversial comment he made during the ‘Occupy Julorbi House’ demonstrations held in September.

It could be recalled that during the heated demonstrations, Okyeame Kwame took to Twitter to lash out at the protestors, claiming that Ghanaians will only enjoy the country when they change their mindsets from relying on the government to relying on themselves.

In fact, he further claimed that if the Tema Motorway isn’t good, he will work hard to patronise mechanics when his car breaks down from using the stretch instead of waiting for the government to fix it.

He was mercilessly dragged on the app, and when the new development from KSTS emerged, he was slammed again.

Reacting to the news, Twitter user @jk_hagan wrote: “Okyeame Kwame says I should tell the students that if they worked hard and saved some of their pocket money, they could have bought this furniture and the whiteboards. Innovation without perspiration will lead to lamentation.”

“O.K will regret making that unfortunate statement. If you cannot criticise because it’s your party then why not better keep quiet,” another user said.

Okyeame Kwame has been silent on Twitter since the tweet went viral.
