Health Minister-designate, Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye, has reaffirmed the government’s dedication to advancing health infrastructure and strategic planning in Ghana.

During a recent visit to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, he inspected newly constructed facilities as part of the government’s initiative to strengthen the healthcare sector.

One of the facilities Dr. Okoe Boye visited was the new Treatment and Holding Centre at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, which was established in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. The center features state-of-the-art amenities such as an ambulance bay, reception and nurses station, triage area, High Dependency Unit (HDU), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), male, female, and pediatric wards.

In addition to the Treatment and Holding Centre, Dr. Okoe Boye also inspected the renovated Diabetes Management, Research, and Training Centre. The rehabilitation project, funded by the Government of Ghana through the Annual Budget Funding Amount (ABFA), included various essential works like demolition, re-roofing, and provision of washrooms.

Expressing optimism about the projects, Dr. Okoe Boye emphasized the government’s commitment to enhancing healthcare delivery and promoting well-being for all citizens. He highlighted the importance of investing in healthcare infrastructure and research opportunities to improve the quality of care and support for individuals with diabetes.

The Minister-designate also checked the refurbished fevers unit, the Urology and Nephrology Centre of Excellence, and the site of the new Mother and Child Centre at the Korle Bu teaching hospital. These projects aim to address specific healthcare needs and revolutionize maternity healthcare delivery in Ghana.

Dr. Okoe Boye urged stakeholders to prioritize healthcare investment to improve the overall well-being of the population. He emphasized the government’s completion of approximately 40 health facilities since taking office, including polyclinics, district centers, specialized units, and CHIP compounds.
