In Pakistan’s Faisalabad on October 13, 1948, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan was born. Known as one of the most important people in the development of contemporary Qawwali music, the vocalist hails from Pakistan. His work on the scores for movies like The Last Temptation of Christ and Dead Man Walking made him most well-known to Western audiences. In order to create the music for the movie Dead Man Walking, he worked with Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam. Early in the 1980s, Oriental Star Agencies signed him. He started doing public performances at the age of sixteen.

Farrukh Fateh Ali Khan was Nusrat’s younger brother, and she had one younger sister. His family had a long history of creating qawwali music. Ustad Mubarik Ali Khan and Ustad Salamat Ali Khan, two of his uncles, were also well-known qawwals. Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan began performing with his uncles and quickly developed into a gifted qawwali singer. He initially emulated his uncles’ musical taste, but as he grew as a performer, he added his own artistic flourishes to his music and created his own distinctive, distinctive qawwali singing style.
