The National Service Scheme (NSS) is urging President Nana Akufo-Addo to quickly sign the Ghana National Service Authority Bill 2024 into law in order to grant the secretariat authority and autonomy.
The Executive Director of NSS, Osei Assibey Antwi, made this call during the policy launch on April 15, 2024, emphasizing the need for the scheme to be strengthened, capacitated, and well-resourced to regulate the mobilization and deployment of personnel.
Mr. Antwi highlighted that the new law will provide the authority with the chance to expand existing programs such as the NSS teaching model and NSS MSME accounting age, positioning the NSS scheme as one of the best in the West African and African region for deploying service personnel. He passionately appealed to President Akufo-Addo to approve the bill currently before him.
In response, President Akufo-Addo called on stakeholders to support the scheme in achieving its objectives, expressing confidence that with the implementation of the new policy document, the NSS scheme will play a vital role in shaping the future of Ghana and empowering the nation’s youth to fulfill their potential.
The President encouraged stakeholders to embrace the new changes, focus, and the future of the NSS, believing that the implementation of the new policy document will further solidify the scheme’s position as one of the best in the region for deploying service personnel. Let us support the NSS in achieving its objectives and empowering the youth of Ghana to reach their full potential.
