The crocodiles of Paga Senior High School have suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of Navrongo Senior High School in the Upper East regional qualifiers of the National Science and Maths Quiz.
Described as the “amiable carnivores,” Paga SHS failed to secure their first-ever national slot, receiving a crushing blow from Navrongo SHS, who proudly call themselves the “Light of the North.”
Navasco, as Navrongo SHS is known, dominated the contest from the start, answering questions with precision and securing bonus points effortlessly. Their lead in every round of the quiz left their competitors in the dust, culminating in a landslide victory of 50 points, with Paga SHS trailing far behind with only 3 points.
Chiana SHS, joining from the Kassena-Nankana West of the region, also struggled to keep up, ending the contest with a mere 2 points. Despite their defeat, the crocodiles of Paga SHS are optimistic about sharpening their teeth and strategizing for a better performance next year.
In contrast, Bolgatanga SHS managed to qualify for the national championship despite describing their performance as abysmal. Their sister school, Bolgatanga Girls SHS, will also be competing on the national stage.
Both schools have yet to progress beyond the regional qualifiers since their participation in the national tournament in 2019.
As the competition heats up, Bolgatanga SHS is determined to rise from the ashes like a phoenix and soar to new heights in this year’s NSMQ.
With the regional qualifiers showcasing intense rivalry and unexpected outcomes, the road to the national championship promises to be filled with excitement and fierce competition.
