St. Francis Xavier SHS is gearing up to make a comeback in the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) after clinching a national spot in a stunning victory. The school, a two-time finalist, has faced challenges over the past decade, failing to secure the coveted trophy.
With high hopes and determination, the blue-shirt boys from the Upper West region are looking forward to a better year in the competition. Their recent win at the Wa regional library, alongside Queen of Peace SHS, has reignited their aspirations for victory.
Supporters of St. Francis Xavier SHS were elated, chanting the school’s anthem and seeking blessings from their predecessors. The school’s last appearance in the NSMQ grand finale was in 2014, and they are now poised to surpass their quarterfinal status and aim for the championship.
Similarly, Queen of Peace SHS, a Catholic school from Nadowli, celebrated their triumph after defeating Wa SHTS, Wa Islamic SHS, and Kaleo SHS. Despite a shaky start in the first round, the school rallied and emerged victorious with 32 points.
Both schools are determined to make a mark in the national competition and secure their first trophies. The journey to reclaim their glory has just begun, and the students are committed to showcasing their intellect and knowledge on the grand stage. Let’s cheer them on as they strive for excellence in the NSMQ 2024.
