Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, is the chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region. He has voiced optimism that the NPP will end the eight-year electoral cycle.
He declared that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its leader, former president John Dramani Mahama, would not be allowed to take over the party.
“Dr. Bawumia will win the elections, and we shall break the eight, John Mahama will not give it to you because you are not the option, Bawulai will succeed Akufo-Addo,” Chairman Wuntumi declared during the launch of the Ashanti Region NPP campaign team.
Furthermore, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s flagbearer, will declare his running mate at the proper moment, according to Mr. Dan Kwaku Botwe, the campaign chairman for the party in the impending general elections of 2024. He stated that Dr. Bawumia will be meeting with the NPP National Council shortly to talk about the selection.
“We are not divided at all,” Mr. Botwe said, underscoring the party’s unity. Polling place elections, electoral elections, constituency elections, regional elections, national elections, and presidential elections have all been successful. We will act when the time is appropriate because we are one team. It is not a problem at all because we have done it previously in 1992, 1996, 2000, and 2008.
He went on to say, “The national council will meet with the presidential candidate at the proper time, and we will have a discussion and pick the running partner. In my opinion, there isn’t a competition to be the running partner.
