Michael Kofi Okyere Baafi, the deputy minister of trade and industry and the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary candidate in New Juaben South, claims he has started the process of enlisting the support of all party members who are disgruntled in the constituency for the general election campaign of 2024.

Yaa Ansah, a prospective parliamentary candidate aiming to take on Okyere Baafi, was excluded by the screening committee. There was a stir and disappointment among some of Yaa Ansah’s delegates and supporters over this situation.

According to the MP, maintaining unity at this early stage will enable the party to garner as many votes as possible in the constituency and advance the “Breaking 8 agenda.”

Speaking to the media on the sidelines of a special celebration hosted by the Koforidua party and the Electoral Commission, Mr. Okyere Baafi declared that he is doing everything within his power to honor the party’s votes in the general elections.

We cannot accomplish this on our own, as I have repeatedly stated, and I will not give up. We need to involve everyone in it. I’m referring to both our supporters and detractors.

There are people in politics who have different views and orientations than you do. Furthermore, having differing views does not make someone your enemy. I can promise you that I have begun work seriously, though, if you accept that this is the way things always work out.

“I went to see a very prominent person in the municipality to talk to the person who had earlier expressed interest in running against me. Some people might not be aware of what we have accomplished thus far, so that’s something to discuss.

Two separate delegations have been sent to see them. Even though it hasn’t worked, we won’t give up because if I do, they’ll get their way. We will only be able to accomplish results in this manner, so that is what we will do. We’re not going to stop talking to people and getting them on board. We will see to it that all significant parties are included in this campaign. The key will be unity, and I stand for that,” he declared.
