Francis Asenso-Boakye, the Bantama member of parliament, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the outcome of the recently concluded New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primaries.
He expressed his dissatisfaction, citing the votes he received in comparison to Ralph Agyapong, his only rival. In the parliamentary race scheduled on December 7, the Minister of Works and Housing became victorious.
He received 650 votes, or 78.22% of the total votes cast; Mr. Agyapong received 181 votes, or 21.78% of the total.
The first-ever NPP incumbent Member of Parliament to be chosen to run again for the Bantama Constituency is Mr. Asenso-Boakye.
However, the MP stated that, in light of the development projects he has started in the constituency, he had anticipated receiving more votes than he did.
“I felt a little let down when the results were revealed. He stated, “I was shocked that the guy could garner that many votes,” during an interview on Starr FM in Accra.
But when he realized Mr. Agyapong had support, he added, he realized the problems and accepted the result.
“In any election, 78% is a landslide, but I knew about them and didn’t believe,” he said. If the MP wins the 2024 election, he will be serving his second term in office.
